Welcome & Warden’s Report

I write this on a glorious November afternoon, having followed in Keats’s footsteps along the path from College to the Hospital at St Cross. This walk, at a similar time of year, inspired Keats to write his Ode to Autumn. For me, more modestly, it brought home both our huge good fortune to be surrounded by so much beauty and our serious responsibilities as custodians of such a wonderful landscape and so many historic buildings.

Headmaster’s Message

My very first lunch up to House was in Trant’s in 2008, when I sat at a table next to a boy called Adam. At first I was leading the conversation — as dons generally must with younger boys — and asking questions about their Ekker, their favourite subjects and what they were reading.

Bursar's Report

Working at Winchester is often quite breathless, particularly during term-time, for all those involved not only in teaching but also in supporting that mission. Reflecting on achievements over the past year necessarily requires a pause, and it is a pleasure to take a snapshot of the past 12 months.

Development Report

The first time I came to Winchester College was about 30 years ago: I was in my first proper job, working as the Undergraduate Admissions Officer at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and had been invited by one of the Housemasters to come for lunch with pupils (or “lunch up to House” as I now know to call it) followed by a tour of the College.
